Man in driver's seat of parked car killed in Culver City shooting

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Culver City that left one man dead.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. when shots were fired in the 10200 block of Washington Boulevard near the Sony Pictures Studios.

AIR7 was above the scene and captured a heavy police presence surrounding a parked vehicle. The man was seen in the driver's seat.

Los Angeles Police Lt. Sean Kinchla said that when detectives arrived on scene, "they located a male, who's 51-years-old, seated in the vehicle. The male had suffered a gunshot wound. Los Angeles Fire Department determined the male dead at scene".

Kinchla said that detectives have been canvassing the area looking for video and witnesses.

Details on a suspect or suspects were limited, but authorities said they are looking for a person that fled on foot wearing dark clothing.

Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the fatal shooting.
