Riverside police shoot bar patron allegedly armed with 2 guns

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Newly released body camera video shows Riverside police shooting an allegedly armed and intoxicated man after he was escorted out of a bar by the establishment's owner.

The incident began shortly after 7 p.m. on May 8, when the proprietor called 911 and said the suspect was showing two handguns in his waistband to other customers.

"I got a customer that showed up here kind of drunk already and he's brandishing," the owner is heard saying in an audio recording of the call, which was released Saturday by the Riverside Police Department. "He ended up pulling one of them out and put it on the counter."

Police arrived at the scene, near the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Trautwein Road, after 28-year-old Isaac Ambriz of Santa Ana was escorted out of the building. Surveillance video shows the suspect in the parking lot with his hands up, walking toward an SUV as two motorcycle officers pulled up.

"Sit on the ground," one of the officers says on his motorcycle's loudspeaker. "Get on the ground right now."

As the armed officers walk toward the suspect, one of them shouts: "Don't get in the car! He's reaching for his waistband!"
