FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A dog in Orange County remains missing after it was swept away in a flood control channel Saturday night amid the weekend storm.
It happened around 10:20 p.m. near Orangethorpe and Magnolia in the city of Fullerton.
The fire department received a call about a man with two dogs who needed to be rescued.
The man and one of the dogs were saved, but the second dog somehow came out of its harness and was swept away.
"Both dogs had harnesses on at the time we attempted the rescue," said Fullerton Fire Battalion Chief Jordan Morris. "We attached a rope to both of those harnesses, and one of the dogs that ended up going downstream came out of its own harness. We were unable to rescue it."
As of Sunday morning, the dog remained missing.
The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
