Suspect busts through door in Pasadena ice cream shop break-in: Video

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Pasadena ice cream shop was broken into for the second time since it opened less than a year ago.

La Michoacana De Dena shared surveillance video of the break-in that left the shop with some serious damage.

The video shows the suspect shattering the front door of the business with a sledgehammer and running inside around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect then runs through the store and breaks into the owner's office, the video shows.

The owner told Eyewitness News he doesn't usually keep much cash in the store, but the thief did get away with a bag containing several $1 bills -- tips left by customers.

This is the second time someone has broken into the small business in the past six months. The first break-in happened shortly after the Eaton Fire in February.

"It's very stressful, you know, because we have to come in and we have to clean up the mess, and I've got to call somebody to fix the windows, and it's not cheap, you know? I was just like, 'Man, not again,'" said Fernando Camacho, the owner of La Michocana De Dena.

The business has cleaned up and reopened since the latest break-in. The owner said he is very grateful for the support he's received from the community.

Police said there is an ongoing search for the suspect, who was seen leaving the break-in in a dark-colored sedan.
