Suspects' pickup truck goes up in flames at end of police chase in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- A police chase in Ventura ended in a fiery crash early Thursday, and the suspects involved managed to get away, authorities said.

Ventura police said officers tried to stop a speeding driver on the 101 Freeway early Thursday. The driver fled, leading police off the freeway at the Johnson Drive exit.

The pursuit ended when the pick-up truck crashed after exiting the freeway. Video from the scene showed the truck on fire following the crash.

Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Camarillo.

Authorities have not released additional details about the suspects or whether any injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
