Beloved Brentwood gas station dinosaur stolen

BRENTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stole a 50-pound fiberglass dinosaur from a Brentwood gas station.

The 4-foot-tall dino, who fans lovingly named Claire, stood at the Sinclair station on San Vicente Boulevard, but surveillance shows a man put it in a pickup truck last Saturday.

The man used power tools to get the dinosaur off the ground and drove away with it.

No arrest has been made, and it's not clear why the man took the dino.

Neighbors are grieving and showing their love and support for the dinosaur, dropping off flowers in its place.

They are hopeful the dinosaur will be returned back to its rightful place.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that an investigation into the theft is ongoing.
