Hundreds stand in line for Norwalk housing vouchers

Hundreds of people stood in line as the Norwalk Housing Authority began to hand out housing vouchers to low-income families Monday, Sept. 21, 2015.

Hundreds of people started lining up overnight for a shot at more affordable housing Monday morning in Norwalk.

The city's housing authority was providing 3,000 vouchers at the Norwalk Arts and Sports Complex to help low-income families meet their monthly rent payments through the Section 8 program.

People who apply must meet both income and citizenship requirements, and eligible rental housing must be within city limits with proper health and safety standards to get the vouchers.
