Pope Francis to speak before joint meeting of Congress Thursday

Pope Francis will speak before a joint meeting of Congress Thursday before leaving Washington and heading to New York.

The pope will be received by House Speaker John Boehner before addressing both the House and Senate. Chief Justice John Roberts, along with Justices Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonya Sotomayor will be in attendance.

Later in the day, the pope will meet with some of the city's homeless at St. Patrick in the City Church before leaving Washington and heading to New York.

After arriving in New York, Pope Francis will end the day by attending vespers at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Wednesday the pope met with President Barack Obama at the White House. He attended a prayer service with U.S. bishops before performing the first Canonization Mass ever held in United States.
