LAKE LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives said Wednesday a woman in her 70s is believed to have fallen into a fire pit and died in the Lake Los Angeles area.

The victim's roommate reported the gruesome discovery of the burned body around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday near East Avenue O and 210th Street East, Lancaster sheriff's detectives said.

An autopsy was expected to be performed to determine the exact cause of death, according to authorities.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.
