PHILADELPHIA -- Police said they found no evidence of explosives on a U.S. Airways flight from San Diego that received a bomb threat as it flew to Philadelphia.

The incident happened before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after the plane arrived from San Diego.

Those aboard Flight 648, 88 passengers and 5 crew members, were led off the jet.

Philadelphia police and firefighters were called in, and K-9 dogs searched the plane.

Philadelphia police said the threat indicated multiple devices aboard the plane. Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said bomb threats were made against several other flights around the world.

Authorities said an initial search has turned up no evidence of explosives.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Airline spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says passengers were transported to a terminal and reunited with their luggage. They were free to go.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
