Suspected intruder shot to death by San Pedro resident

SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspected intruder was shot to death by a resident in San Pedro early Friday morning, police said.

Police received a call around 3 a.m. about an apparent home invasion in the 300 block of West 11th Street. One of the residents became aware of the intruder and shot him.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the resident shot the man in the head. Both the resident and suspect were described as men in their 30s.

The resident who shot the suspect and witnesses, including the person who made the 911 call, were being interviewed by police.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.
