OC nonprofit seeking public's help to honor fallen officers

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (KABC) -- A nonprofit that makes mourning bands to honor officers killed in the line of duty is seeking the public's help, in the wake of the tragic shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge.

Julia Walling and Laura Tartaglione, both retired Long Beach officers, run the nonprofit Honor Bands.

The group makes personalized black bands to honor officers killed in the line of duty. They hadn't finished making bands to honor the officers killed in Dallas when the Baton Rouge, La., shooting occurred.

They now plan to send more than 1,000 mourning bands with the words Baton Rouge on them. They are looking for donations from the public so they can continue honoring fallen officers.

To help the group, go to their website at honorbands.net.
