Parents receive toys from Spark of Love
Christmas came early for hundreds of children in the Inland Empire as parents lined up bright and early Saturday to receive toy donations from the Spark of Love Toy Drive.

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- Christmas came early for hundreds of children in the Inland Empire as parents lined up bright and early Saturday to receive toy donations from the Spark of Love Toy Drive.

Some parents were so dedicated that they even spent the night to get a good spot in line for goodies in Ontario.

As many as 200 to 250 people were in line by 7 a.m., ready to find gifts for their kids. Some of the toys included "Star Wars" gadgets, dolls and action figures.

Maria Betancourt said it's been hard to get even the basic necessities for her family. She braved cold temperatures overnight.

"I'm doing it because of my daughter because I know she's going to be happy when she receives presents," she said. "Right now, you know, it's hard to even buy something - even food."

On Dec. 4, a Stuff-A-Bus event had nine buses stuffed with gifts that will go to underserved children and teens in the area.

Donations for Spark of Love are still being accepted until Christmas Eve. Anyone willing to make a donation can bring the unwrapped goods to a local fire station.
