SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Three suspects were in custody after a man in his 30s was fatally shot Wednesday morning in front of a South L.A. hamburger stand, authorities said.
The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Normandie Avenue, where the victim was standing in front of the Burger Factory restaurant, according to a Los Angeles Police Department sergeant.
The shooting prompted the LAPD to temporarily go on tactical alert, with officers scouring the area in patrol vehicles on the ground and in helicopters overhead.
News video showed the victim's body lying on the sidewalk and covered with a sheet in front of the fast-food location.
A weapon was recovered in the investigation, police said, adding that the homicide was possibly gang-related.
