Caleb WilliamsandRome Odunzewent from running into each other on the same flight en route to the NFL draft Tuesday to becoming teammates Thursday.
The Chicago Bears selected Williams as the No. 1 pick then drafted Odunze at No. 9, pairing the two together in the Windy City. Odunze joins a wide receiver room that already has Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, while Williams is tasked with leading the Bears back to the postseason.
Moments after being drafted, Odunze shared his excitement about getting to work with Williams.
Williams posted on X about seeing Odunze, writing: "Oh s--- yall I just saw Rome Odunze on my flight to Detroit!! Big fan!"
The wide receiver jokingly responded that he's "actually the pilot." Odunze and Williams landed safely before taking a photo together in Detroit.
Williams threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns in his final season with the USC Trojans. Odunze had a career-high 1,640 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns with the Washington Huskies.
