Week 2's top college football trolls: Georgia Southern, App State, Marshall celebrate upset wins

Week 2 of college football had a little bit of everything: blowouts, highly-competitive affairs and top-25 showdowns.

Some action from the afternoon included theTexas A&M Aggiesgetting shocked by the Appalachian State Mountaineers, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes roll against the Arkansas State Red Wolves and theMarshall Thundering Herd upsetting the No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend.

Although the college football season is just starting, trolling is already in mid-season form. Teams' social media accounts didn't hold back after victories, using creative graphics to celebrate -- and get under the skin of their opponents.

Here's a look at some of the top social media trolls of Week 2:

Marshall 26, No. 8 Notre Dame 21

The Thundering Herd defeated the Fighting Irish much in part to their defense. Marshall forced Notre Dame into three turnovers, two coming in the fourth quarter. It is the second time the Thundering Herd knocked off an AP top-10 team; the last time was in 2006 against then-No. 6Kansas State Wildcats.

Appalachian State 17, No. 6 Texas A&M 14

The Mountaineers have a history of taking down AP top-10 teams, and they did it again on Saturday. Appalachian State forced two turnovers against Texas A&M and held the team to under 200 yards of total offense. The Mountaineers join Marshall as the second Sun Belt Conference team to defeat an AP top-10 squad on Saturday.

App State had a Texas welcome (or farewell) for the Aggies after the game.

Georgia Southern 45, Nebraska 42

Prior to Saturday's game, Nebraska was 214-0 when scoring at least 35 points at Memorial Stadium.

That record now stands at 214-1.

Georgia Southern's offense notched 642 total yards and senior quarterback Kyle Vantrease was responsible for 409 of them. Vantrease also scored the go-ahead touchdown that lifted Georgia Southern over Nebraska.

No. 10 USC 41, Stanford 28

The Trojans did not score a single touchdown in the second half, but you wouldn't know that by looking at the final score. Junior transfer wide receiver Jordan Addison made his Pac-12 debut with a big showing, recording seven catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Caleb Williams also filled the stat sheet with 341 yards and four touchdowns as USC cruised to victory.

Iowa State Cyclones 10, Iowa Hawkeyes 7

In the fourth quarter, Xavier Hutchinson capped off a 99-yard drive by scoring Iowa State's only touchdown of the game. It proved to be the difference-maker as the Hawkeyes had a chance to send the game to overtime, but but Aaron Blom's 48-yard field goal attempt was wide left.

Iowa State overcame three turnovers to gain their first road win in the in-state rivalry since 2014.

No. 16 Arkansas 44, South Carolina 30

The Razorbacks' running game carried them to victory against the Gamecocks, as Raheim Sanders ran for a career-high 156 yards along with two touchdowns. Quarterback KJ Jefferson added two scores of his own -- one through the air and one on the ground.

Sanders wears No. 5, the same number former Arkansas running back legend Darren McFadden wore from 2005-07. The Razorbacks saw parallels between Sanders' efforts Saturday and McFadden's historic 2007 performance against the Gamecocks, where he rushed for an SEC-record 323 yards, so they took to Twitter to show the similarities. Avert your eyes, South Carolina fans.

Duke 31, Northwestern 23

Blue Devils running backs Jordan Waters and Jaylen Coleman combined for 174 rushing yards and three touchdowns to help their team beat the Wildcats on Saturday. Duke quarterback Riley Leonard threw for 240 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Blue Devils remembered the game picks from ESPN's College GameDay crew, where nobody chose them to win. So Duke's Twitter account pulled out the receipts after the win.

No. 3 Ohio State 45, Arkansas State 12

The Buckeyes made easy work of the Red Wolves behind 351 yards and four touchdowns from quarterback C.J. Stroud. Marvin Harrison Jr. also had a big day, catching seven passes for 184 yards and three scores. According to ESPN Stats and Information research, he joins Jaxon Smith-Njigba (2022 Rose Bowl) as the only Ohio State players since 2004 with 150 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions.

After the game, Brutus, Ohio State's mascot, had the perfect Twitter post to summarize Arkansas State's afternoon.

No. 5 Clemson 35, Furman 12

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei threw for 231 yards, two touchdowns and an interception en route to a convincing win over the Paladins. Running back Will Shipley logged 68 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the day, and Beaux Collins led his team with four catches, 57 yards and a score.

Clemson's Twitter account posted a graphic showing the damage done to its opponent after the game.
