The men who found her say her van got stuck on the trail, so she got out and fell into mud that she said was "like quicksand."
A 12-year-old boy was killed and an 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a hit-and-run driver struck them while riding an ATV in Apple Valley, authorities said.
ATV riders are taking their vehicles out on streets and trails, where they're not legal. Police and residents say this is a safety hazard to cyclists, pedestrians and the off-roaders themselves.
In the video, the deputy is heard saying, "Don't run from me boy, I will beat your (expletive) right here."
The nonprofit "Warfighter Made" is an organization founded by veterans to build customized vehicles for ill or combat-wounded service members. They also hold events to take all veterans off-roading for "adrenaline therapy" excursions.
"I don't much believe in miracles, but my wife says it is, and I'm going to have to go with her story," Howard Coates said.
