LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actress Kate Burton has earned the respect of one of television's top creators, Shonda Rhimes. The Emmy-nominated actress is featured in two of three "Thank God It's Thursday" dramas on ABC: "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal."
Burton says she's honored to be part of Rhimes' "repertory company."
"I moved to L.A. eight years ago and I didn't have a single expectation of what I would do as an actress," Burton said. "Thanks to Shonda Rhimes, I have had the most glorious experiences playing these two amazingly interesting women: Sally Langston and Ellis Grey."
"Grey's Anatomy" just revealed that Burton's character had put a baby daughter up for adoption. The actress playing the now-grown daughter is Kelly McCreary, and the two stars have a real-life past! Ten years ago they were both cast in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
"I was Peaseblossom. I was one of her fairies!" McCreary said. "We had a great summer together."
"She now calls me Mom," Burton said.
"Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" air on Thursday nights on ABC7.
