Tournament of Roses court announced in Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- The Tournament of Roses announced Monday the seven young women who will make up the 2016 Rose Parade royal court.

All seven girls were selected from 39 finalists who were announced last week. More than 900 women in the Pasadena area applied for the title.

One of the seven girls will be named and crowned the 98th rose queen during a ceremony Oct. 22. at the Pasadena Convention Center.

The queen and court will help lead the 127th Rose Parade on New Year's Day.
