Pedestrian in her 30s struck, killed by Metro Expo Line train in South Los Angeles

JEFFERSON PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A pedestrian in her 30s was struck and killed by a Metro Expo Line train Saturday morning in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, officials said.

The incident occurred about 10:40 a.m. in the 3600 block of 11th Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. She was not immediately identified.

Light-rail service was suspended on the Expo Line between Crenshaw Boulevard and Western Avenue as an investigation got underway, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.
