How one Rams equipment manager is breaking barriers in NFL

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- They are the Rams' unsung heroes.

"I always compare them to a roadie for a band," said Brendan Burger, the Rams' senior director of equipment. "Kind of first in, last out."

Equipment managers in the NFL -- that's a lifestyle position.

"I would say that this is just somewhere that I am hanging out, doing what I love," said 23-year-old Madison Plummer, one of the Rams' 10 equipment managers. "This never, ever feels like a job."

After landing an internship with the team, Plummer was hired full-time last spring and is now the first Black female equipment manager in the NFL.

"It really means a lot," she told ABC7. "I've just been able to put myself in this position and have people be able to see that in me -- that me being a Black female, it's like, dang, she can really do it just as much as anyone else can."
