LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- About 50 businesses and two fire hydrants were impacted Sunday by a water-main break in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles.

A 6-inch cast iron pipe burst at about 5:15 a.m. at Venice Boulevard and Ellsmere Avenue, Department of Water and Power officials said.

Crews were working on repairing the break. Water in the area was quickly shut down and was expected to be back up by 5 p.m.

The cause of the break was not immediately available.

This break is one of several that has occurred over the past few months. On Friday, an 8-inch water main ruptured in Encino, damaging pavement. In July, parts of UCLA and Westwood were also flooded by a water main break.
