Wattles Mansion undergoes makeover as designer showcase

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Wattles Mansion in Hollywood underwent a Cinderella makeover as a designer showcase house. To display the new renovations, tickets for a tour of the home will be available from Friday through April 17.

The City of L.A. Recreation and Parks Department purchased the property in the mid-60s, and the mansion is available for private events like weddings.

Though the acres of parkland are open, this is the first time the mansion has been open to the public.

The home was built in 1907 by a wealthy Omaha Banker, Gurdon Wattles, who commissioned Myron Hunt and Elmer Grey.

Their commissions include the Rose Bowl and the Huntington Library.
