LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A low-pressure system in the north is expected to bring cooler temperatures with a chance of rain and some snow over the weekend.
Los Angeles and Orange counties should see a high of around 70 degrees on Thursday, but temperatures will drop by about 10 degrees starting Friday and some rain is possible in foothill communities over the weekend.
Valleys and the Inland Empire will see sunny skies on Thursday with a high of 75, dropping to 39 at night. The chance of rain Friday is about 50%.
Beach communities will see high of 67 on Thursday, dropping to 59 on Friday.
Mountains will be sunny and cool, with a high of 58 during the day Thursday, dropping to 26 overnight. Mountain communities could see about 1-2 inches of snow on Friday at elevations over 5,000 feet. Friday the high temperature in mountain communities like Big Bear will reach only about 38 degrees.
Desert communities will see a high of 71 on Thursday, dropping on Friday to 56 with a 20% chance of showers and some gusty winds.
