TEMPLE CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- A heavy rain storm moved through the Temple City area Monday afternoon, flooding several streets in its path.
Video from AIR7 HD showed high water levels in the area of Roseglen Street and Encinita Avenue shortly after 4 p.m.
It appears a garbage can added to the problems. Residents said the can and its contents were blocking a storm drain, which made the floodwaters come up to people's homes.
Roseglen Street was reportedly flooded with about a foot and a half of water. A neighbor spotted the garbage can and moved it, allowing the water to drain into the nearby Easton Wash.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department along with the Department of Public Works responded to the area to help clear the drain.
A few blocks away, flash flooding from the downpour inundated the driveway and front yard of a home in the 9400 block of Broadway.
"It was in the garage, but it did not go all the way inside. So at this time, we do have about 4 feet of water that we are gonna actually get rid of," said Capt. Art Jimenez of the L.A. County Fire Department.
Fire officials said water did not make it into the home. Crews were helping the resident pump out the water from the front yard.
