CALGARY, Alberta -- A pair of Canadian newlyweds braved the elements over the weekend to capture a stunning wedding photo, moments before a torrential downpour.
The ominous storm clouds made for a dramatic backdrop, but photographer Cassie Molyneux says it began pouring a mere 60 seconds after the photo was taken, drenching the bride and groom and much of their wedding party.
"We couldn't all help but laugh hysterically at what was happening. It was absolutely crazy and definitely an unforgettable moment," Molyneux wrote when she shared the image on Facebook.
Molyneux says the couple had just 30 minutes to recover before heading to their reception. She followed bride Helen and groom Owen home, where Helen's bridesmaids attempted to dry her dress with a hairdryer while Owen changed into pajamas while his suit dried out.
"I already knew Owen and Helen to be two of the most amazing spirited people in the world but the fact that they basically had buckets of water dumped on them on their wedding day and still came out smiling, happy and full of love just blew me away and I now love them even more," Molyneux wrote.
Molyneux's photo has received thousands of likes and shares since she shared it on Facebook, with fans praising its composition and the bravery of its subjects.
"This is a real award winning photo! I love this couple looking into each other's eyes, beautiful. What a fabulous and unusual memory of their special day," one person wrote.
"Let's hope the marriage is a little less stormy! But no matter what happens, they've certainly got a unique wedding photo. Spectacular," wrote another.
