Trojans, Bruins heading to the NFL

LOS ANGELES Out of the first 63 players taken, seven of them were Trojans. That's more than 10 percent of the draft..

The New Orleans Saints moved up three spots to take USC Nose Tackle Cedric Ellis with the 7th overall pick; the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year had nine sacks.

Two picks later, Cincinnati took linebacker Keith Rivers. He's coming off a 78-tackle senior season for 'SC.

Despite an injury-plagued senior year, the Atlanta Falcons tabbed Offensive Lineman Sam Baker with the 21st overall pick.

And the pride of Inglewood -- Laurence Jackson -- was the 4th Trojan taken in the first round when Seattle chose him 28th overall.

Three more Trojans were taken in the 3rd round: Offensive Guard Chilo Rachal, Tight End Fred Davis, and Cornerback Terrell Thomas.

Quarterback John David Booty is now a Viking and Thomas Williams was pick No. 155 overall going to the Jaguars.

Finally, Chauncey Washington was drafted in the 7th round by Jacksonville.

For the UCLA Bruins, Linebacker Bruce Davis went in the 3rd round, 88th overall to Pittsburgh.

Matt Slater, the son of Hall of Famer Jackie Slater, goes to New England in the 5th round.

And Free Safety Christopher Horton was drafted by Washington in the 7th round.
