Officials: China heparin imports safe

Dozens of deaths and allergic reactions in the U.S. have been linked to heparin from China. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspects the problem stemmed from a contaminant in supplies of raw heparin.

China's drug safety agency has accused the U.S. of blocking its own inquiry into the problem by refusing to provide details on victims and specifics about production.

The U.S. says the drug is now safe because of tighter testing and controls.
