Third Boyle Heights suspect found dead

BOYLE HEIGHTS The incident began when an officer was reportedly serving a narcotics search warrant. One of the suspects opened fire, and according to LAPD Officer April Harding, two officers were in an alley when they were fired upon.

Police were able to arrest two suspects, but a third suspect held off officers for hours.

Police set up a perimeter in the area of Malabar, Mott and Boulder streets to find the suspect.

The SWAT team later found him dead inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police reportedly began evacuating residents from the area at approximately 4 p.m. while police searched the surroundings house by house. The evacuation was lifted about 8 p.m.

One officer was wounded when a bullet grazed his leg, but his injuries are said to be minor.
