People who've tried to quit smoking often find that it takes several attempts, and even after that not everyone is successful. A new study suggests that hypnosis may be effective when it comes to kicking the habit. Smokers have tried nicotine patches, gum, even antidepressants in attempts to quit. Now researchers at UC San Francisco find that hypnosis may be a good alternative to those trying to quit smoking. In their study, hypnosis appeared to work better in those who had a history of depression.
Out of 50 million Americans who smoke, about 1.3 million have successfully quit.
