Autopsy set for man shot by S.D. police

An autopsy is scheduled Monday for a Los Angeles man shot to death by San Diego harbor police after they rescued him from the San Diego Bay and he allegedly became combative.The victim is identified as 37-year-old Steven Paul Hirschfield of West Hollywood.

Investigators say Hirschfield fell from a party cruise boat celebrating San Diego's Gay Pride Festival. After being pulled to safety by harbor police, he got combative with the officers who saved him.

"At some point got him aboard, a fight ensued on the back of the police boat," said LT. Ken Franke from the San Diego Harbor Police Department. "The suspect grabbed a Taser from an officer."

Police say Hirshfield beat one of the officers in the face with the Taser. When Hirshfield went for the officer's handgun, another officer then shot him to death.
