ORANGE COUNTY --
An Orange County federal judge has ruled that jurors will be allowed to hear racially charged statements allegedly made by former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona. The tape was secretly recorded.
The judge says two offensive comments in a series of conversations during the summer of 2007, could show Carona's alleged involvement in a public corruption conspiracy and are not unfairly prejudicial.
The judge says most of the comments on the tape are un-related to the case, and will be barred.
