After a discouraging introduction to the entertainment industry, the aspiring actress and singer didn't give up. Instead, she brainstormed a way to give everyone a better chance at making it big.
The 26-year-old Garcia is the founder of iCHOOZ.tv, a Web site that is something of an international talent show. Entertainers around the world can upload their homemade videos, and the public votes on their performance via text messages.
Based on a performer's popularity, they move up through monthly competitions. Ultimately the finalists will compete for a recording contract or a management deal.
All the while, the contestants are getting sage advice from industry veterans like music producer Bob Robinson.
And for the Philippine-born immigrant-turned-Internet mogul Garcia, iCHOOZ is only the start of what she's hoping will be a virtual television and recording studio.
