Homeowners warned of misleading mailers

LOS ANGELES County Assessor Rick Auerbach says some private companies are offering to file property reassessment forms for a fee. They're sending out mailers that could be mistaken for government notices.

The companies offer to provide the service for a fee of at least $100, but Auerbach says the county will help you reassess your property value for free.
