2 killed in house fire in Baldwin Village

BALDWIN VILLAGE, Calif. Firefighters were called to the 3800 block of /*South Redondo Boulevard*/ near Coliseum Street just after 1 a.m. When they arrived at the home, flames were shooting through the roof and they found a severely burned woman outside.

The woman said her husband and daughter were trapped inside the home. "He is setting the house on fire." She then screamed and the telephone went dead, police said.

Firefighters knocked out the in about 20 minutes.

Bars covering the doors and windows made it difficult for firefighters to make entry to try and rescue the victims. When they were able to get inside, firefighters found the bodies of Salvador Rosales, 78, and his daughter Christina Rosales, 34, inside the home. Their wife and mother, Christina Rosales, 63, was found outside the home and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition in a hospital burn unit, police said.

Neighbors rushed to help when they heard screams.

"It was just crazy fire, just flowing out of the windows, just coming up through the roof," said Briana Barr.

"My wife heard the screams and came out," said Jeff Cooper. "The woman who lives in the house was out here and she was badly burned."

The woman is hospitalized in critical condition with burns over 60 percent of her body.
