Body found shot and burned in Montebello

MONTEBELLO Officers say the body of a man was found along a scenic trail in the city last week. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Bogar Ysidro Payan, was found burned and charred near the Whittier Narrows Dam. Investigators said Payan was also shot in the head. His body was likely burned to try to hide any evidence.

"The important thing for us is to try to find out friends, people that he had any kind of disagreements with, to give us somewhere to start about what could have caused this to happen." Said Montebello police Sgt. Luis Lopez.

Investigators are also looking for the victim's missing SUV, a blue 2005 Jeep Cherokee with California license plate 5NTF624.
