Man found shot to death inside apartment

LANCASTER, Calif. The death was reported around 3 p.m. at 44042 25th St. West. When sheriff's deputies arrived to the scene they found the 24-year-old victim dead from a single gunshot wound.

So far deputies have not made any arrests, but are questioning a man they call a person of interest.

Neighbors said the victim was a young father who lived alone, and was "a nice guy and devoted father."

"He had a 2-year-old little boy," said neighbor Amy Diaz. "He loved to play with the kids, teaching them how to ride their skateboards."

A neighbor reportedly heard a gunshot last night, although the shooting was not reported until this afternoon.

Officers said the shooting does not appear to be gang-related, but added it was not a random crime.
