Man struck and killed by forklift

BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday firefighters were called to 1310 N. Biggy Street in Boyle Heights. Fire officials say a man was walking near a construction site when he was run over and crushed by a forklift.

The forklift was part of a crew working at the ambulance entrance of the former /*County-USC Medical Center*/.

Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the /*Los Angeles City Fire Department*/, says the forklift operator wasn't injured but was clearly shaken. Humphrey says the forklift operator was offered emotional support by firefighters and a clergy member on the scene.

The victim has not been identified.
