Police: Mom and child went willingly

POMONA, Calif. An Amber Alert was initially issued Sunday morning for 18-month-old Alexis Rodriguez after police said the child was taken by 33-year-old Francisco Rodriguez. The child's mother and Rodriguez's wife, 30-year-old Consuelo Gonzalez, was also believed to have been missing.

Officers now say the mother and child went willingly. The two were safely returned to their home in Pomona Sunday afternoon. Officers also recovered Rodriguez's truck.

However, officers still say they are searching for Rodriguez for an attempted murder charge.

Investigators said Rodriguez ran down 30-year-old Jose Chavez as he left with his family. According to Chavez's father, Rodriguez ran him over because he believed he and Gonzalez were in a relationship. Chavez was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening head injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Francisco Rodriguez is described as a Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.

Rodriguez has ties to Mexico and may have headed south of the border, police said.
