Glendora on lookout after bear visit

GLENDORA, Calif. The bear was spotted in the 800 block of Leadora Street on Sunday afternoon.

Homeowners said that seeing the bear was both "neat" and "scary" at the same time.

Dave Sims, a resident of the neighborhood, called police when the bear crushed open one of his plastic garbage cans.

"The bear wandered into the backyard and took a dip in the swimming pool, and found a garbage can, opened it up and I don't know what it got out of it, but it was after something. And then it roamed around, came out in the front yard and into the garage," Sims said.

When police arrived, they were able to chase the bear back into the mountains.

No one was injured during the bear's intrusion.

This isn't the first time a bear has been sighted in Glendora, but normally they appear near the foothills, not this far into the city.
