That's because the show added a competitive Mambo dance-off, where teams earned from two to 10 extra points depending on how well they danced.
Joanna Krupa and her partner, Derek Hough, won the Mambo dance-off, and went from being tied for first place to getting it all for themselves. Of course, the 26 they got for their Waltz was also wonderful.
"The slower a dance, the more control you have to have," said Derek. "And people look at it and go, 'Oh, that looks real easy and really beautiful,' but the easier it looks, trust me, it's harder."
"It's really harder and the nerves don't help your feet," said Joanna.
And how thrilled are Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff to be tied for second place with their judges' scores?
"Well, it's about time," said Karina. "We worked our butts off."
They tied with Mya and her partner, Dmitry Chaplin, who upped their standings with the group dance competition.
"I was a little worried earlier with that Jitterbug and the scores but we're still in the game," said Mya.
A point behind them: Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer.
"This woman right here, she said, 'You've got to bring it. Jitterbug -- you know, you can do all the tricks and stuff.' And she had me do them," said Mark.
"It's that saying, 'If you've got it, flaunt it,'" said Lacey.
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson Jitterbugged their way to fifth place.
Is Donny enjoying being out of his comfort zone?
"I kind of do," said Donny. "Thank you, Kym."
"We are having so much fun and I am taking you out of your comfort zone a little bit," said Kym.
"You have, definitely," said Donny. "And I'm sleeping on the couch now, still, for the second week in a row."
And in sixth place, Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel. Kelly says she just can't go home Tuesday night.
"It would be the worst birthday present ever if I went home on my birthday. I do not want to go home on my birthday," said Kelly.
Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower are tied for seventh with Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas.
Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova are again at the bottom of the leaderboard.
