February 9, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Surfers and beach goers are being asked to stay out of the water at Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes Estates because of a sewage spill.About 100,000 gallons of sewage overflowed into the bay Monday when a pipe collapsed near the intersection of Via Rivera and Paseo Lunado.

The closure is expected to be in effect for 72 hours. Signs have been posted at access points to the bay.

Officials continue to test the water and the bay will be reopened when bacterial water levels are considered safe.
