After he crashed his SUV outside his Florida home in November there were numerous tabloid stories, and a number of women who came forward who claimed they had affairs with Woods.
Woods took a break from the game so he could deal with his personal problems and try to save his marriage. The golf star has admitted to being unfaithful to his wife, Elin, and is expected to publically apologize on Friday.
"No doubt they have been rehearsing and practicing," said Media Post Communications editor Wayne Friedman.
Friedman says Tiger's words and demeanor will be closely scrutinized, especially since the Woods camp is controlling every detail of the press conference by limiting who attends and taking no questions.
"On the one hand many critics are saying, 'Good he is finally coming out and saying something. This is something he should of done months ago.' So that is good, but on the other hand he is not being totally open with everyone. And how does that appear to not just his fans, but possible upcoming business partners," said Friedman.
Friedman says Woods would be wise to appease the concerns of those business partners, and trade in his traditionally private and stern manner for a softer and more sincere approach.
"He has to show them that he is contrite and that he is a different person," said Friedman.
Yet many Tiger fans say they'll be listening for other news. A lot of fans want to know when the golfer will swing his clubs again.
"I want him to get back out there and play golf and get everyone interested in the game of golf again," said Scott Scozzola, from DeBell Golf Club.
"I feel badly that has to happen. I do not judge him," said golfer Dave Gautreaux. "I have worked as a volunteer at his tournaments and I admire him enormously."
"I think he made a big mistake, and I think most people will probably support him," said golfer Linda Brahinsky.
Woods' celebrity friends have offered advice.
" I am apologizing to the fans and the sponsors. You are going to see a different and better Tiger Woods," said Magic Johnson. "We need him back on that course."
Woods will speak from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass in Florida -- home of the PGA Tour.
Woods has not been heard since a magazine released a voicemail that he allegedly left one of the women to whom he has been romantically linked, pleading with her to remove his number from her cell phone.
