Cops shoot suspect trying to flee in Lynwood

LYNWOOD, Calif. Police said officers saw a vehicle just after 2 a.m. that matched the description of one used in an armed robbery. When they pulled it over, the driver tried to escape.

Officers shot the suspect, but events leading up to the shooting have not been released.

The suspect is hospitalized in stable condition. Both he and a male passenger were taken into police custody. No officers were hurt.

Police recovered two loaded handguns from the car.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is now investigating.
