2 teens accused of dragging, shooting woman

WESTMINSTER, Calif. The crime happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Russell Paris Park. Officers said the woman, 38-year-old Tuyet Thi Huynh of Garden Grove, was talking to two suspects in a car when they grabbed her purse and tried to drive off. Huynh held on and was dragged several blocks before letting go and falling to the ground after one of the suspects shot her.

Huynh was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

Huynh's boyfriend watched the horror unfold as he chased the suspects in his car, desperate to save his girlfriend, even as the suspects opened fire on him.

An Orange County sheriff's deputy on patrol saw the two cars racing and pulled them over unaware of what was going on.

The alleged purse snatchers, identified as 18-year-old Christopher Yu of Fountain Valley and 19-year-old Lynn Quach of Garden Grove, were arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.

Detectives say that they do not know exactly how the victim died. They're waiting on autopsy reports to figure out if it was the fact that she was dragged by the vehicle or if the gun shot ended her life.

Westminster police said there were numerous witnesses to this brutal crime, and they're asking anyone who may have information to call detectives at (714) 898-3315.
