Local kids' group invited to Carnegie Hall

LOS ANGELES Sunday, the kids were treated to new haircuts, so they'll look their best when they travel to New York City in April.

They're part of the Kids' Music Club at the Children's Institute, a group that helps disadvantaged children from Central Los Angeles.

The kids are very excited for the trip.

"First of all, because it's my first time on a plane and I get to see new cities," said William Lopez, a Kid's Music Club member.

When the kids joined the club, they couldn't read a note of music. Now, they're about to play the 1812 Overture.

During the trip, they'll also get to visit the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

They're still collecting donations to support their trip.
