The victim, Jayanna Eason, was transported to Victor Valley Hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives were called to the location to conduct an investigation.
During the examination of the child, detectives and the Coroner Investigator saw that injuries to the child were consistent with an assault. Detectives then arrested David Jackson, 27, of Apple Valley.
Jackson faces charges and is booked at the Central Detention Center and is being held on $500,000 bail.
