New park proposed atop 101 Freeway in downtown

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES According to Caltrans, the ambitious project would mean covering a half-mile stretch of the 101 just east of the 110 Freeway.

Designers said the project would help connect several neighborhoods divided when the freeway was built.

New high-rise buildings would be included in the project. However, there are no firm design plans or cost estimates.

The project will be discussed at a community meeting at Caltrans headquarters on May 13.
