Arrest in roommate 'home-invasion' murder

San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a home-invasion robbery at a residence on Salina St. in Rancho Cucamonga Thursday.Deputies discovered a gunshot victim in the residence when they arrived at the house, located on the 8100 block of Salina St.

The Hispanic male victim was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Homicide investigators from the sheriff's department determined during questioning that the deceased male lived at the residence. Investigators believe his roommate, Effren Martinez, was the shooter. Investigators think Martinez shot his roommate, then called to report a false home-invasion robbery.

Martinez was arrested for murder and cultivation of marijuana and was held without bail.
