Student nearly drowns at Montclair school

MONTCLAIR, Calif. A freshman student jumped into the deep end of a pool and didn't resurface during a physical education class on Tuesday.

Students alerted a teacher, who dove into the pool to pull the boy onto the surface.

The student was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Within seconds, the athletic trainer performed CPR and restored the student's breathing.

The student was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover.
